First Mini-Chapter for Salesians in Mongolia
ULAANBAATAR: 27th July 2008 -- It took just two days but it
made history for the handful of Salesians in Mongolia - their first
Mini-Chapter. The event took place in the capital over 23rd and
24th July. All Salesian confrères took part. Three
came from Darkhan, 200 kms from Ulaanbaatar, three from the Amgalan
Youth Centre for street children and three from Don Bosco Technical
School in the capital.
All participants showed their spirit of belonging to
the Salesian Mongolia Mission. The event was held with the
Provincial (VIE) present. As a result they have drawn up their OPP
(Overall Province Plan), in this case more of a 'delegation' plan, to
set out their education and evangelisation programme, with a view to
consolidating but also looking to new responses in Darkhan and Selenge,
entrusted to the Salesians.
It is worth noting that after just three years of
presence in Darkhan, the Salesians already have a daily oratory and
parish with 89 Christians and 15 catechumens.
