Cambodian
Diocesan Missions Festival hosted at DB Phnom Penh
PHNOM PENH: 30th March 2008 --
Sunday 30th March 2008 was no ordinary Sunday for Catholic communities
in the diocese of Phnom Penh. 3,800 pilgrims travelled to Don
Bosco, venue for the Diocesan Mission Festival on the theme 'Telling
the Story of Jesus in our Lives". It was a day of celebration,
exposition, witnessing, singing, dancing and drama to explain the
significance of the theme.
Bishop Emile Destombes, bishop of Phnom Penh, was
among his priests, brothers, sisters and lay faithful. The Bishop
presided at the two hour liturgy with enthusiastic participation of the
faithful, and four witnessing stories from the newly baptised Catholics
on how the Sacrament of Baptism has transformed their lives. Not
even the 10 minute brown-out disturbed the liturgy with its
interpretative animating dances.
Once again Don Bosco PP experienced the oratorian
spirit where young people were the active participants in all
activities: games, music and drama. It was in a very real way a
'return to Don Bosco'.
