OZBOSCO
2012, Gawler, South Australia
GAWLER (South Australia) 25 April 2012--
A large number of young people gathered at Xavier College in
Gawler,
South Australia on 20-22 April for OzBosco Salesian Youth
festival.
These young people came from Tasmania, New South Wales,
Victoria and
South Australia. Many Salesian sisters, priests, brothers and
teachers
participated in this event as well. It was the fourth annual
gathering
of Salesian Youth in Australia.
Fr. Elio Capra SDB gave a keynote speech presenting about the
Salesian Strenna 2012 on Saturday morning.
In his presentation, Fr. Elio challenged young people to look
up to
Jesus as Don Bosco did while working with other young people.
He
invited the young to be Christ's sheep and good shepherds to
others.
A number of workshops were presented on Saturday afternoon
including
leadership skills, leading games, ice-breakers, Salesian
Family, music
in liturgy, and making wire puzzles.
On Sunday morning, the principal of Xavier College, Lynn
Martin, gave a
presentation on the Salesian charism. He spoke about the need
of having
a particular culture that can drive us to make a difference in
life.
Lynn used different role models in his presentation.
Enjoyable music, singing and dancing were vital parts of this
weekend.
As a regular feature, the bush dance on Saturday evening was a
highlight.
OzBosco 2012 concluded successfully with a solemn youthful
Eucharist
presided over by the provincial, Fr. Greg Chambers, together
with
twelve Salesian concelebrants on Sunday afternoon.
OzBosco 2012It was an awesome weekend for all young people.
They were
happy to go home on Sunday evening after a fantastic weekend,
yet
looking fairly sad to leave so many new friends they had made.
One
thing for sure is that they all will be looking forward to the
next
OzBosco at another Salesian location in 2013.
