August 5, 2019
Venilale, Timor Leste, 5 August 2019 -- On the thirteenth Sunday of June 30, a Salesian bishop, don Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, sdb came to his hometown where he grew up during his childhood, namely Badomori, to celebrate the Eucharist together with the Salesian Family concelebrated by some Salesian priests. It was his first Mass after his Episcopal ordination March 2016. He was greeted by numerous people gathered along the streets heading to the chapel. He was welcomed by Liurai (the chief of the village), some Salesian priests, namely the Provincial and Local Delegates for the Salesian Cooperators, FMA sisters and lay faithful. After the Eucharistic celebration, there was a great lunch offered by the Salesian Cooperators. This wonderful gathering was organized by the Salesian Cooperators from Venilale Chapter supported by the National Commission for the pilgrimage statue of St. John Bosco. Just for your information, the statue of St. John Bosco was already for two months going around and visiting the houses of Salesian priests and sisters from Badomori as well as the past pupils. The main objective of this pilgrimage was to enkindle the apostolic fire in the heart of every member of the Salesian Family to be more active and participative in St. John Bosco's mission for the poor and abandoned youth.
