Preparing for the birth of Christ

Port Moresby, PNG, 1 December 2017 -- “Christmas is in our hearts. It is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to thank God for sending His son as one of us”, said Fr. Angel Sanchez as he opened the Carol Fest. The Carol Fest was celebrated on the 1st December 2017 at the Korungu Hall, at Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu, Port Moresby. It gave the students an occasion to prepare themselves to celebrate the birth of Christ on the 25th December. Each class had the chance to compete in creating a lantern and sing at the Carol Fest. There were four solo performances by staff and students.
The judges for the day were Sr. Ria Versario fma, DBTI Spiritual Moderator; Mr Andrew Inapi, DBTI Music Instructor and Mr Evald Ikilik, DBTI Past Pupil. They were impressed by the excitement and creativity that brought in fun and laugher. The ITC1 were winners for the best Lantern, best in choreography and best in the carol singing. The Grade 9 Namuncurra were awarded the best costume and the best carol singers. Emmanuel Bosing representing the students, received the best solo performance.
Mr Martin Dai, principal closed the event and the school year encouraging all to ponder on the birth of Christ and spend time in prayer during the Christmas period. Each class then shared in their class lunch before departing for their holidays at home.
