4672(II)_Renewed commitment of VDB and their Assistants in Asia
VDB Second Asia Formation Encounter
March 18, 2018
K'Long, Vietnam, 18 March 2018 -- Three years after the first Asia formation encounter for the VDB Assistants in Tagaytay (Philippines, 2015 November) the World leadership (Ms. Olga and her Councilors) accompanied by the VDB Central Assistant, Fr. Joan Lluis Playa gathered in K’Long Don Bosco Retreat Center for five days ‘Convegno’ again (March 14 -18).
34 participants from five VDB regions (CIG: China – Japan), FILA (Philippines), KOA(Korea), TIC(Thailand – India - Cambogia) and VI region (Vietnam) together with two ‘lonely’ groups depending on the Center (Timor Leste and Indonesia). Among the 20 VDB were present their Regional leaders, Delegates for Formation and some Group leaders and formation councilors. The presence of 14 SDB Ecclesiastical Assistants from various Asian countries was very much appreciated.
Four full day seminar was organized according the following themes: Orientation and Identity (Day 1), Formation (Day 2), Secular character (Day 3) and Cultural impact on the VDB life and mission (Day 4). Each participant was encouraged to bring back home some concrete insight how to live own vocation at personal, group and regional level.
Main inputs were given by the World VDB President, Ms. Olga (Slovakia), Central councilor for formation Ms. Dagmar and Fr Joan Lluis Playa. Ms. Maria Lee moderated the whole encounter.
Vibrant group sharing was held in Italian, English, Vietnamese and Korean language and was followed by Assembly work. This formation encounter helped all participants to deepen identity awareness and get inspiration for living their precious vocation in respective countries with more commitment. Through joyful life secular consecrated life witness the VDB of Asia expect and pledged to attract more new vocation candidates.”
Ms. Dagmar, one of the present members of Central Council does share: "We experience this meeting with joy and family spirit. The hosting Vietnamese are taking very well care about us, the whole team of VDB and our Ecclesiastical Assistants is working very hard. And I pray, that also this second Asia VDB formation encounter (Convegno) will bring the expected fruits - holiness of our life lived in ordinary daily situations."
