5694(III)_Fr. Antonio Molavin is the new convener of Don Bosco Green Alliance
World, 14 September 2021 -- As we celebrate the ‘Season of Creation’, we are happy to announce the good news that Fr Antonio Molavin takes over as the new Convener of Don Bosco Green Alliance, from September 2021. He succeeds Fr Savio Silveira, who has been the Convener for the past three years (2018-2021).
Fr Molavin, a Salesian belonging to the FIN Province (Philippines North - Malaysia), is presently based at San Ildefonso Parish in Makati, Metro Manila. Fr Molavin is known for his great interest in ecology and is passionate about addressing environmental concerns. He has launched several initiatives in this field through his pastoral ministry, and the parish he leads was chosen by the diocese to be the first parish in the Philippines to partner with Plastic Bank. Over the recent months, Fr Molavin has also been actively striving to transform his parish into a Laudato Si Parish.
Referring to his new responsibility as DBGA Convener, Fr Molavin (commonly known as Fr Beng) says: “First, I love our Salesian Congregation which has given me so much. Second, I believe in the urgency of caring for mother earth”. Fr Molavin, 'Beng-beng' is an enthusiastic youth worker and is also the coordinator of oratories and youth centers in the FIN Province. He is very keen in involving young people and whole families in environmental initiatives.
Fr Savio Silveira congratulated Fr 'Beng-beng' on his new appointment and wished him all success in this important responsibility. Fr Silveira also expressed his great satisfaction on the way in which the alliance has rapidly grown over the past three years. “The Don Bosco Green Alliance today has over 450 member institutions from about 80 countries, that is remarkable growth in just three years,” said Fr Savio Silveira. “Young people today are very passionate about environmental issues and we Salesians must accompany them towards a sustainable future” he added.
Don Bosco Green Alliance is an international Green Salesian Movement. Launched in 2018, the alliance is today an active platform where Salesian Family institutions, organisations and individuals exchange ideas and work together on environmental concerns.
