Fatumaca, Timor-Leste, 8 September 2017 -- On the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady, there were 14 Novices made their first religious profession at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians Fatumaca.
The event started at 9 am with the Eucharistic celebration presided by the Vice-Provincial, Rev. Fr. Antônio Transfiguração Pinto, sdb (as known as Fr. Trans) concelebrated by several priests.
After the presentation of the candidates, in his homily, Fr. Trans stressed out the role of Mary in God’s plan of salvation, mentioning the two main virtues of Our Lady, namely obedience and humility. He reminded the novices who were about to profess to imitate these two virtues in responding to God’s call through religious profession. After the homily, the novices pronounced the formula of profession of vows, followed by receiving the Constitutions and Don Bosco’s medal and they were warmly accepted by the superior represented by the Vice-Provincial and gladly welcomed by the confreres and their respective parents amidst of tears of joy. After the final blessing, Fr. Trans appreciated and thanked the families of the newly let go of one of their family members to join the Congregation.
The newly professed confreres also were given their obedience where they will be assigned before they enter the Post-Novitiate House.
