Makati City, the Philippines, 13 October 2018 -- October is a special month dedicated to the Blessed Mother. Aside from the usual month long recitation of the holy rosary and Block rosary, the Pastoral Ministry Office, together with the youth groups of Don Bosco Technical Institute, Makati (DBTI Makati), organized two other major activities: 1) the 24th Interschool Marian Rally, and 2) a Marian Exhibit. Both events were dubbed as “Maria, Bukod Kang Pinagpala”, or simply #Pinagpala.

The 24th Interschool Marian Rally was held last October 10, 2018 at the Joy Center. Twelve schools participated, with a total number of 276 high school students. This year’s speaker, Bro. Melo Martinez, SDB developed the theme by focusing on Luke 1:28. He further led the participants to ponder on how the Blessed Mother can be a model for today’s youth. This was followed by a group sharing and the group’s creative expression of their devotion to the Blessed Mother. The afternoon started with a personal testimony of a youth, Arthur Ace Malatag, an alumnus of DBTI Makati. He shared how the Blessed Mother has truly blessed him and how these experiences led him to a more authentic devotion to Her. Capping the event was the Eucharistic celebration which was presided by Fr. Paul Suarez, SDB.

To further instill in our students the love and devotion to the Blessed Mother, a Marian Exhibit was put up from October 8 – 13, 2018 at the Bosco Hall. A total of 50 Marian titles were included. The exhibit showcased Don Bosco’s Madonna, Mary Help of Christians. Thus, aside from the various images of Mary Help of Christians, a brief history of the devotion, the prayer of entrustment, stampitas, novena, and medals were included. The exhibit was opened and blessed last October 8, 2018 by Fr. John Manalo, SDB. Students from the Elementary, High School, TVET departments, lay mission partners, members of the Salesian Family and those who attended the Marian rally viewed the exhibit.
