4762(I)_Do you have the Heart of a good shepherd?
The Salesian Vocation Presentation Award goes to Manila
June 18, 2018
EAO, 17 June 2018 -- Almost one year (August 12, 2017) after the annoucement of the global contest for the best presentation of the Salesian Consecrated Apostolic Vocation the winners are declared: Fr Bautista Ryan Oliver and Cl. Quinto Sanchez April Jerome (both from Philippines North, FIN province). Another Salesian digital master pieces were submitted to the SDB Formation sector in Rome from Africa - Madagascar (3) and from South Asia (2) Regions.
A beautiful and simple audio-visual presentation of both Blessed - Good Shepherds makes really a deep impact. The merit goes also to another religious Filipino religious and artist - Bro. Kristoffer Omandam, OSM (Servite Order) - who drew the wonderful images on the slides.
The whole presentation is available in power point presentation, PDF version or in Mp4 format in 25 slide:
Based on the Good Shepherd (Jn 10:11-18) Gospel story, is asking with a strong insistance: What moves the heart of a shepherd? What makes him good? Blessed Brother Sandor is introduced as 'Life for Poor Young Workers' while Blessed Martyr Fr. Titus Zeman as 'Life given for Young Vocations' - both credible witnesses of Don Bosco in their respective countries of Slovakia and Hungary.
As the heart moving energy is identified the 'love for the sheep' and the goodness of the Shepherd consists in 'laying down of life for the sheep'. The 3 minutes presentation ends with an open question to all of us: "Do you have the heart of a good shepherd?"
The first beneficiaries will be the prenovices (about 600+) in our seven Salesian Regions. It is in fact the prenovitiate the phase of formation (the first!) in which the Salesian consecrated identity in its two forms ought to be well presented. This new means could become a valuable help. Obviously, the same presentation can be used in many other context. In this way the SDB Constitution articles 45 and 98 find a wonderful 'digital commentary' accessible to all around the world.
We congratulate and give thanks to both FIN province Salesians (Cl. Jerome would be soon ordained a deacon on June 23rd in Manila). The official awarding ceremony is scheduled for August 23rd during the 2018 Paranaque Formation Curatorium meeting - Manila (FIN).
