5234(II)_AustraLasia's development 22 years on
It is no longer just a matter of 'tossing a bottle' into the ocean

HCM City, Vietnam, 24 October 2019 -- The 24th of the month of the Rosary seems like a very good date to announce a new development concerning the EAO Region's successful and long-lasting communication tool, AustraLasia, one element and indeed the founding element of the now much broader network under the umbrella of Bosco.Link.
There is little need to go back over much of the exciting history of this e-link, since it is already well known, but just a reminder that this 'message in a bottle' so to speak, was tossed into the Pacific Ocean (metaphorically!) 22 years ago when the first austraLasia message went out to just a small group of 15 or so Salesian communicators who had met at Batulao (FIN) to look at ways of improving regional cooperation and communication. That message has now reached many shores and gone out to thousands, not only in EAO but other regions as well. And of course, it feeds the Congregation's main news service, ANS, with regular and updated news items from our region to choose from.
Originally, it was managed from the Australian Province alone, then passed on to Korea Province, when Bro. Hilario Seo assumed the role of coordinator/administrator. As of today, this role passes to Vietnam-Mongolia in the person of Bro. John Baptist Pham Hong Phuoc, operating out of the former Provincial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. But he will not be working alone. The AUL-KOR and now VIE combination will ensure a continuing successful workflow with all that is involved: server management, content management, quality control, posting to the web, photo selection, SNS uploads etc. etc. It is no longer just a matter of 'tossing a bottle' into the ocean, and our gratitude goes to KOR Province in particular for its support, including financial support!
For the user, the reader, no change is required. You still send your news to eao@bosco.link and all will be well! Please support Bro. John as he guides this enterprise into the future.
