Paranaque City, Philippines, 31 October 2020 -- The Association of Mary Help of Christians – Philippines celebrated its 38th National Convention on 31 October 2020 at the National Shrine of MHC in Paranaque City and live streamed via Facebook page of the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians Parish - @NSMHCParish. This year’s chosen theme was “ADMA, living the essentials in this time of pandemic and beyond”. Physically present were more or less 30 members from the following chapters: a. San Isidro Labrador Parish in Sucat, Paranaque City, b. San Ildefonso Parish in Makati City, c. San Juan Nepomuceno Parish in Pasay City, d. St. John Bosco Parish in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and e. Auxilium Chapter in Paranaque City, also the host chapter. Other members joined the activity via Facebook and YouTube live streaming.
After the welcome remarks of the National President, Ms. Rheena May R. Lim, the activity started with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by the Adoration and praying of the Rosary. Contemplating on the Joyful mysteries of the Holy Rosary, ADMA members prayed for all those affected by the present situation, for the physical, spiritual, psychological and financial healing and for an end to the coronavirus pandemic. A pre-recorded video was presented for the Formation talk with a topic: “Pastoral accompaniment in this time of pandemic and political crisis”, given by Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, D.D., presently the Apostolic Administrator of Manila. After watching the Formation talk, ADMA members aimed to come up with resolves, as individuals and as a chapter, to continue to live the ADMA ideals in the midst of the new normal, with the acknowledgement of the realities of this pandemic and the challenges it brings.
To culminate the national convention, the Holy Mass was celebrated with Fr. Cris Magbitang, SDB as the presider. Also, Fr. Cris is presently the Spiritual Animator of ADMA Philippines-North Province and Rector of the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians. Before the final blessings, members renewed their ADMA pledge.
Amidst the pandemic and the impending typhoon, the ADMA members were thankful that they were able to celebrate the annual convention this year. ADMA members will continue to pray that with Mary Help of Christians, our Mother, She will continue to guide and keep us all under Her mantle of protection.
