austraLasia #2609 Salesian Brothers moving ahead
by Bro. Jomar C
MANILA: 14 March 2010 -- Salesian Brothers in the
Philippines gathered at the Don Bosco Center of Studies (DBCS) in
Paranaque for their formation seminar from 9 -11 May. There were 22
temporary and perpetually professed Brothers from FIN, FIS in the first
instance, but also ITM, AET and CIN Brothers in the Philippines. The
event was graced by the presence of Fr Vaclav Klement, Missions
Councillor, who gave them an inspirational conference and updated them
on plans for the specific and on-going formation of the Brothers. He
also challenged them to intensify vocation promotion for Brothers with
bold promotions and active presence of Brothers among young people.
Fr. Danilo Torres, heading up the formation
commission for FIN organised the event together with Br. George Celis,
responsible for Brothers' formation and administrator of DBCS. The
seminar focus was self-awareness towards human and spiritual
well-being and integration. Fr. Nilo Tanalega SJ of the UGAT
Foundation at the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Manila University, facilitated
the seminar sharing his expertise as a Family Therapist. He was
assisted by 3 lay people who also shared themes and personal
experiences about self-awareness, integration and relationship with the
different age groups (young adult, middle adult and late adult)
together with integration in one's self to be an affective person for
the community.
Aside from being an opportunity for each confrere to
share thoughts, reflect and make resolutions with regard to personal
growth, the seminar also became a venue for bonding amongst Brothers
from the different provinces - meeting old friends, contemporaries and
new/fresh blood.
It is wonderful to see the congregation focus this way on the care and
promotion of the Salesian Brother vocation. _________________ AustraLasia is an
