Don Bosco Suva multipurpose hall is being completed

March 08, 2020

By Fr. Mika Leilua

Nakasi, Suva, Fiji Islands, 7 March 2020 -- 21 years after the arrival of the Salesians in Fiji, 5 years after the visit of the Rector Major to Suva and 3 years after the inauguration of the first SDB parish in Suva, Fiji - the Salesians give thanks to God for an almost complete multipurpose hall, the Don Bosco Youth Centre, in SJB Parish Suva. Life in the Pacific has its own speed and we are grateful that after so many years with one humble formation house and simple Sunday Oratory, the Salesian charism can be shared through the daily Oratory - Youth Centre and Parish with its own decent infrastructures.

The first parish priest, Fr Mika Leilua, supported by the Suva Don Bosco community (Rector Fr Jim Hoe) and by the provincial PDO and Economer's Office in Melbourne, Australia, has expressed his gratitude in a brief video message: "I sincerely thank you, all the donors who gave generously to this project and hopefully it will come to completion soon, Vinaka!"

The community of Don Bosco Suva is part of the Pacific Delegation (Samoa - Fiji - New Zealand, Delegate Fr Petelo Vito Pau) with its headquarters in Apia, Samoa. After three parishes in Samoa and two parishes in New Zealand, Saint John Bosco is the fifth Salesian parish in this part of the Pacific.
