Don Bosco's got talent!

HENDERSON (SI): June 21, 2010 --  Don Bosco Technical School students, Henderson, outside Honiara, Solomon Islands, shone on stage on 17 June, 2010 as they competed for a chance to perform a song marking their school’s upcoming 10th anniversary. Students were asked to compose a song about the Salesian founder St John Bosco, sticking to the theme “Don Bosco - Fully Alive”, the winner given a chance to perform when the institute celebrates a decade at its Henderson campus August 12 to 14 this year.
    A crowd of 200 students, staff and family members were wowed by solo singers, duet performances, and even a troupe of dancers who did stunts on a bicycle.  It was an enjoyable and inspiring day at Don Bosco as the audience heard melodious voices and harmonious tunes giving glory and thanks to God and honour to the Father of Youth – Don Bosco.
    The Winners were chosen by a panel of judges including Charles, of One Television, Bernard Rapasia of TVET Division,Sr. Sesilia Sala FMA, Catholic Education Advisor. winners were announced for the solo and duet categories.
    The prizes were sponsored by local celebrities, businesses and the Filipino community, Dalgro (SI).  The overall Winning Theme Song was a Music Video Clip production – sponsored by ONE News Limited.
    Don Bosco Technical Institute is a secondary technical school of the Catholic Church and Salesian Community. It was founded in 2000 and runs technical courses for about 200 male and female students.
