NEW SALESIAN INTERNET SERVICE ON BEHALF OF
STREET KIDS
Peter Newbery
HONG KONG: 3rd February -- During the meeting in
Rome at the beginning of December dealing with the topic of "Street
Kids" a meeting of the delegates from the Asia Pacific Region (and a
sprinkling of other English speakers) proposed to set up an Internet based
network to provide information on Street Kids and problem youth. Fr. Peter
Newbery from Hong Kong was asked to follow up on this.
Since then, Fr.
Newbery has obtained the E-mail addresses of the participants at the meeting and
has sounded out the best way to go forward. "The Street Kids Resource
Network" has now been launched. At least for the time being it will simply
consist of a news/information network whereby all interested parties can
circulate information or news they find interesting or useful.
Both
BOSCONET (Australia) and VIS (Rome) have offered space on their site if the
network wants to have a more permanent base at some future date. Thanks to both
Julian Fox of Bosconet and Antonio Raimondi of VIS.
If anyone who was not
at the Rome meeting wishes to be included in the Network please send your E-mail
address to Fr. Peter Newbery at the following E-mail address scugnizzo@bigfoot.com Those who join up
are expected to put in as much as they take out! The service will only be as
good as the amount of information put in.
