EAO, 20 January 2021 -- During the afternoon of 19 January 2021 the first 2021 encounter of the EAO Eco Team (Don Bosco Green Alliance) was held, convoked by Ms Taichi Miranda (Coordinator) with the involvement of 17 representatives from 9 provinces and 3 delegations (Cambodia, Mongolia, Pakistan). Animated by the January Prayer intention video of Pope Francis and by in-depth sharing from Mongolia delegation, the Eco Team made another quality step.
The participants shared a large number of good news from many provinces. First of all the moderator acknowledged the already well-known events during the past month - Christmas tree from plastic bottles (TLS), Christmas Crib from recycled materials (CIN), Laudato Si Musical by SDB and FMA in initial formation in Gwangju (KOR) and formation of EPC members in Anisakan (MYM).
Most of all the awareness oft Pope Francis' Laudato Si encyclical movement (caring for our common home) and the involvement of the Salesian Family members in our EAO provinces is steadily growing: systematic animation of Salesian youth in our TVET and Technical Schools (Vietnam), sharing with the Rectors and Provincial councils (China, Australia), 3000 Eco-Bag distribution to all Salesian school students (Japan) and SYM leadership animation on behalf of DBGA (FIN-FIS joint provinces).
The EAO Eco Team also acknowledged a growing membership with valuable grassroot experiences from Kep (Cambodia), Jakarta - SJB Parish (Indonesia), from Cebu (Philippines South), from DB Past pupils in Seoul (Korea), Tarlac - Pampanga - Bicol (Philippines North) as well already well known Manila - Don Bosco Tondo vegetable garden in the soccer field.
Enthusiastic and well-animated representatives from each Province and Delegation will meet next month to continue the common search for clear goals and strategies in this launching stage of DBGA in our EAO provinces. Their sharing of resources and experiences is facilitated through the online archive (G-drive) that helps to update the EAO Ecomap in real time. Ecological conversion and transformation is going on!
