5537(III)_Salesian Cooperators reaching out to the village children and youth since 2009: PNG
December 20, 2020
Kokopo - Papua New Guinea, 20 December 2020 -- As Christmas is fast approaching and as part of our continuous outreach programs, the ASC-PGS Kokopo-unit works out how the Annual Gift-Giving they usually do at Don Bosco and the surrounding villages of the Parish of Mary Help of Christians can be extended to other villages now that we have a total of eight communities to share with.
Two Sundays ago, the Sunday school children of Mary Help of Christians Parish (in Don Bosco Rapolo) were the recipients of the Christmas gift giving by the Salesian Cooperators in Kokopo. Last Sunday, they inched their way to Blessed Peter Torot church in Tobera village. The parishioners especially the children got a surprise of their lives as they never expected that an early Christmas present would suddenly be poured in their place which was one of a kind for them.
Such a joy to see the smiles painted on their faces as they received the varieties of gifts! This Sunday, after months of not visiting them due to pandemic, we will be heading once again to St. Hubert's church in Kabaira to bring Christmas presents.
To this date, since the Salesian Cooperators in Kokopo made a Promise already in 2009, thousands of children and handfuls of villages have been the beneficiaries of the many outreach programs of the Salesian Cooperators, including the sick people at St.Mary's Vunapope Hospital, not only during Christmas time, ordinary Sundays and also during Eastertide.
We wish all to experience this deep joy of sharing with the village children.
