ITM: 21 young Salesians
choose to remain faithful
JAKARTA (Tigaraksa): 2nd August 2009 -- July 25th (in Purwokerto)
four young Timorese confreres chose to remain faithful to Christ in the
Salesian Congregation by renewing their vows before Fr. Peter Tukan,
Rector of the Postnovitiate, who represented the Rector Major, and two
other Salesian witnesses. On 1st August (in Jakarta) 17 Indonesian
confreres chose to do the same. After the recitation of Vespers, in a
very simple but moving ceremony, each of these young Salesians
approached the altar and recited the formula of profession,
reconfirming their love for Jesus whom they want to follow more closely
and pledging to devote all their strength to those to whom they will be
sent, especially to the young people who are poor. Today, 2nd of
August, in fact some of them already left for Timor Leste to begin
their practical training. At the end of the service, as they began
another phase of Salesian life, they recited a simple Hail Mary in
imitation of Don Bosco who began his apostolic work with a simple Hail
Mary. The ITM Vice-Province is forever grateful to the Lord for the
gift of vocations and implores Him, through the intercession of Mary
Help of Christians, for more generous candidates who will work with
apostolic zeal for the salvation and well-being of the so many young
people in Indonesia and Timor.
