November 16, 2017
By Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi, SDB
Rector of Anisakan Apostolic School
Anisakan, Myanmar, 15 November 2017 -- During the annual gathering of the EAO formation delegates, in Anisakan (MYM, November 13-16) the last evening was with a double good night talk. After an intense day of talks and group sharing was a farewell time with the provincial house community and the Nazareth Aspirantate (grade 7-10) boys and their community.
All 42 EAO formators (including two provincials and two superiors of the delegations) and Myanmar confreres who joint the meeting were given the first good night talk by Fr. Joseph Hung (VIE - Rector of the Postnovitiate in Dalat) about the situation of Vietnam-Mongolia province. In the initial formation of the largest EAO province there are now 250 Aspirants, 22 prenovices, 23 novices, 38 postnovices, 15 practical trainees and 27 confreres in specific formation. Beyond the 320 Salesians (191 Salesian priests and 62 Salesian brothers) there are 102 missionaries ad gentes & ad vitam working in 36 different countries and other 11 priests and 5 practical trainees are temporarily working in 8 different countries as well. Fr. Joseph explained that all Vietnamese confreres are formed not just for their motherland of Vietnam, but to be at the service of the whole Congregation.
Second good night talk was given after wonderful dinner and rosary prayer, when all participants moved to nearby Nazareth House for a family time with the 130 boarding students, who entertained the formators with Fr. Ivo Coelho and the EAO regional councilor with their songs and dances. At the end it was Fr. Silvio Roggia (formation sector) who addressed the boys with the keys of Fr. Calosso - asking them to choose the right things like Don Bosco at their age. He was reasoning that if 14 years old Johny Bosco would chose the money of Fr. Calosso and not give the keys to his relatives, probably nobody of us would be here today. Three key words: Trust in God - Faith - Generosity were given to the whole family as wishes for Good Night.
We wish that is all of our EAO communities every day would be this precious time of sharing like Good Night talk!
