Wa, Myanmar, 17 April 2017 -- I wish you a very happy Easter. The Lord has risen to give us life. Our complete provincial council of Myanmar (Superior of the Vice-province Fr. Charles Saw) just came back from the ten-days team visit (April 6-16) to the 'Wa Mission'.
It was a very exciting trip for me as I was going there for the first time. As fruit of this historical complete provincial council visit, our confreres, Fr. Raphael, Fr. Raymond and Fr. John Gam Seng, agreed to stay together in one center and from there they would animate all other works stretched in large area of Wa Region (Shan State, Myanmar). This is good news dear father since never was it heard that the confreres in Wa Mission lived and worked together.
The provincial and the whole council, went to Wa Mission to see together the activities being done there during past 25 years. Our primary concern was to discuss together how the confreres who are assigned there can LIVE AND WORK TOGETHER, forming one community. That is our main goal! As the three presences are quite far from one another, it is not very easy for the confreres to form a community. But now they will live together in one place which will be their community and from there they will animate the rest of the activities together.
We went to all the three Salesian presences with their three houses and six primary schools built by us time ago, where our volunteers are teaching the Wa ethnic group children. There will be some 400 children studying in these schools. We discussed too ways and means of improving our educational activities.
Indeed for our young Vice-province this Wa region mission is missionary frontier for the difficulty of language (Wa and Chinese), geographical distances and social conditions. We pray for more means, volunteers in the social, medical and education field.
Happy Easter 2017!
