July 3, 2017
Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 3 July 2017 -- Twelve young people from the Australian Salesian Youth Movement, led by Romina Martiniello and Cl Tristan O’Brien sdb and accompanied by Fr Bernie Graham sdb, Province Delegate for Youth Ministry, began their immersion experience to Cambodia, arriving in Phnom Penh on 1 July 2017. Their experience will predominantly be with the various sections and ministries undertaken at the Don Bosco Technical Centre in Phnom Penh.
During the first three days have had many opportunities to meet with the young people and participate in their activities.
The celebration of the boarder community Mass and a welcome ‘dance party’ with the three groups of boarders – Border Boys and Boarder Girls (Technical Centre students), and the Besucco Boys (High School students) was held on the first night.
On Sunday morning we participated in the Oratory run for the local youth, offering classes and activities.
Monday was spent working on a drainage construction project with some of the Tech students which included cleaning out the drain of the football field and constructing concrete coverings for the drain.
All very rewarding experiences.
