Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, July 21 – The Korean province has been closely working and collaborating with the mission work in Mongolia. Every now and then Korean confreres, FMA sisters, various Korean groups, associations and volunteers come to provide assistance.
Last July 17, no less than Fr. Stefano Yang, Provincial Superior of Korea, and its Provincial Economer, Fr. Isidor Hong arrived in Mongolia. This is Fr. Stefano’s first time to visit the country, while it was Fr. Isidor’s third time. They stayed here for a week.
Their visit is aimed to see the life and mission work of the Salesians in Mongolia in order to find some way to help. They stayed in Ulaanbaatar (UB) for two days, while the rest of the week was spent in Darkhan community.
They went around in UB seeing different sectors of our work in the school and in Don Bosco Caring Center. In Darkhan they spent time with the parishioners and with the youth. Before they left for Korea on July 21, they had the celebration of the Mass in the UB community chapel. They were quite pleased to see the work in the mission and had a very good impression about the service the congregation has been rendering to the Mongolian people.
Just few years ago we had Bro. Marino(last name?) of Seoul came to help in setting up the technical school and to train the teachers in welding and in other trades. Fr. Simon(last name?), a great missionary from Korea, is the in-charge of the printing press, farm and of animating the youth in Darkhan parish. He is doing an admirable job, and appreciated by all the people around him.
The confreres and the people of Mongolia are grateful to the KOR Province for its constant willingness to guide, support and inspire the missionaries in Mongolia.
