Tokyo, Japan - Last March 19, 2016 was a day of blessing for the Salesian Province of Japan and for many members of the Salesian Family and Youth. A young novice Philip Neri Tsutsumi Ryosaku, 21 years old knelt in front Father provincial Mario Yamanouchi Michiaki and said: “I make the vow for 3 years to live obedient, poor and chaste according to the way of the Gospel set out in the Salesian Constitutions.”
And during the same Eucharistic celebration in Chofu, Tokyo, Fr. Mario accepted for ever another young Salesian, John Baptist Le Pham Nghia Phu: “In the name of the Church and of the society I welcome you among the Salesians of Don Bosco as a confrere committed by perpetual vows.”
During homily father Mario concentrates on the virtual of Saint Joseph, a saint who loves the calmness but always protect Jesus and Mary by doing. Saint Joseph is a patron of Salesian society, so that he will protect you and show the way for you. But remember that Saint Joseph obeys the plan of God, he did all things that God asked him to do. You too, learn from him and say “Yes” to God’s plan. If you do that you will taste the happiness and joy…"
And the youngest professed Salesian Cl. Tsutsumi, Philip Neri does share his immediate experience of his first profession day:
"Many people, friends, family members and benefactors came and prayed together. I felt that I'm supported by many, many people. I'm also thankful for confreres who accepted me as their brother. During the Mass, after first profession, I heard my grandmother's voice. I felt gratitude for her, since she handed to me the faith strongly. I couldn't stop crying. It was the first time to thank, that I can believe as Catholic faithful.
After one year as novice, I could notice one thing I have many faults and weakness. And my character is not suitable for a religious. But God invited me to this vocation. This is one of the miracles. And I just follow His will. Thank you for prayers, please pray for our two new novice - Iguchi and Tsubaki. Now I became an assistant of the senior Aspirants in Chofu and continue to growth with Jesus, Mary help of Christians,St Joseph and Don Bosco!"
