EAO, 22 July 2016 -- Few days before the World Youth Day (WYD) in Krakow, Poland (July 24-31), many groups from the various provinces of the EAO region are already in Europe.
Some of our WYD pilgrim groups have chosen to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Places of Don Bosco (Australia, China - Hong Kong, Korea) and some are heading to other European countries and getting in touch with EU Salesians (like the CIN - Taiwan group in Prague, Czech Republic).
Salesian archbishop Timothy Costelloe (Perth - Australia) shares his Valdocco experience (July 20, 2016):
"I am writing to let you know our 15 young people of Perth had a wonderful visit to Valdocco. Don Rafael greeted us and we had a very good English-speaking guide. I hope we have planted a Salesian seed in the hearts of our young pilgrims. Ms. Deborah very kindly allowed me together with my auxiliary bishop to spend some quiet moments in Don Bosco's bedroom..."
Probably not all EAO WYD 2016 pilgrim groups are not aware about the details of the Salesian Youth Gathering in Krakow during WYD on July 27 Indeed as already during past WYD celebrations the SYM held some kind of 'Salesian World Youth Day' organized by the SDB-FMA Youth Ministry Sectors at the world level.
On July 27th there is a SYM Forum at 9:30 AM and SYM Festival at 2:30 PM. Both events will be attended by the Rector Major Fr. Angel, SDB and Mother Yvonne, FMA. The SYM Forum will take place in the morning and will be attended by four people from each country - one SDB, one FMA and two SYM youth. In total there will be about 300 SYM delegates, to share experiences about their daily living of Salesian Youth Spirituality.
The Festival will take place in the afternoon and evening at the ground of the EXPO Fair in Krakow, and will end with an evening of spirituality with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the Good Night Talk by the Rector Major and the Mother General of the FMA. There are expected about 6000 young participants from all 5 continents.
