Tokyo, Japan, 25 June 2020 -- Salesian Cooperators in Japan launched a new Provincial Council in April 2020. Due to COVID-19, we couldn’t see each other until 21 June. Our council consists of 6 members from the Tokyo area.
We’ d like to introduce our new SDB Provincial Delegate, Fr. Nobuyuki Paul Tamura. Fr. Tamura was born in Yamanashi Prefecture. His first name “Nobuyuki” signifies "to go for preaching" in Japanese characters. His younger brother is also a Salesian priest.
Fr. Tamura spent his junior high and high school days as a junior aspirant at the Salesian dormitory. So he grew up as a Salesian in body and soul. After being ordained priest, he worked at the school and junior aspirantate. He had experience as a Local Delegate both in Kyushu and Tokyo. Now he’s eager to “offer the service of being a spiritual, educational, and pastoral guide to support a more efficacious apostolate of the Salesian Cooperators” (PAL STATUTES, Art. 26).
Last but not least, we’re so much grateful to Fr. Achille Loro Piana as he accompanied and guided us for nearly 10 years with his Italian missionary passion and a fair bit of sense of humour.
