Thai Province celebrates a belated
Salesian
Family Day
BANGKOK: 1 July
2012 -- Salesian Family Day is usually
celebrated in the
Thai Province in January, but this year with the disastrous
floods
around and in the capital city, such a celebration was not
possible. Instead, the Province chose the end of June,
and some
300 members of the Salesian Family in the Province (9 groups)
gathered
at Phra Mae Maree, Sathorn, Bangkok on 30th June.
Salesian Family groups in Thailand, other
than the
SDB are: FMA, ASC, SIHM, VDB, ADMA, DQM (Daughters of the
Queenship of
Mary), SQM (Sisters of the Queenship of Mary), and Past
Pupils.
Following an opening address from the
Provincial, Fr
Paul Prasert Somngam, Fr Joseph Banchong Santisukniran
explained the
Strenna 2012 and then presented participants with the life of
the
Servant of God, Fr Carlo della Torre.
In the afternoon session a number of
the
Groups presented their activities: VDB Action Plan, 75 years
of the
SIHM, ASC activities for the past year. The FMA presented
their VIDES
and SSYV (both Volunteer organisations), while the SDB
outlined
preparations for 2015 and the Bicentenary. The day concluded
with a
Mass at which the Provincial presided and a number of Salesian
priests
concelebrated.
The Salesisan Family SDB Delegate is
Fr
Francis Cais.
