-- The Secretary of the Department of Labour
& Industrial Relations, Papua New Guinea, Mr George
Vaso, has awarded the GOOD CORPORATE
CITIZEN Award
to the Salesians of Don Bosco, PNG in recognition of
their excellent
contribution to the recruiting and training of Papua New
Guinean
workers in compliance with the Employment of Non-citizens Act
and
Immigration laws and the practice of sound employment.
Br Jess Garcia, the Delegation Economer, said that with this
formal
recognition as a good corporate citizen, the Salesians would
enjoy
priority processing of its work permit applications and would
have the
option to apply for five-year work permits instead of the
current
three-year duration.
Fr Rafael Galve, Delegate for PNG, mentioned that the SDBs who
have
been working in the country for 33 years and are especially
well-known
in the field of Technical Education, feel honoured with this
government
recognition and encouraged them to work even harder in the
years ahead.
