Dear Friends,
Million thanks for your prompt concerning. We are still waiting for further development of the flood which we expect to move on to the lower lands of the country. If not for the present situation, we may need for rehabilitation of the people. We decided to join the local authority (both civil and Church) in the service of assisting the victims. Now that everyone is excited to help in fragmented ways, we Salesians are studying what will be the best effective way to reach out to the most needy directly.
Concerning the fundraising, I think you all can start organizing to be in time to meet the needs which is imminent. We, the Salesians, are sure to get involved, only analyzing where to get in first.
Although a Salesian Community is in the heart of hard-hit area by the flood ( that is Kalay town in Chin hills), we are protected by the Good Lord and remained unaffected. But oir confreres are taking an active part in the relief works for the victims who lost everything in the water. We may need help to assist the people for the rehabitation after the flood. We will keep you informed about the help we are offering those in need.
We really appreciate the sense of solidarity on the part of our Salesian brethren all over the world.
Thanks a lot for your concern,
Yours in Don Bosco,
Fr. Charles Saw, SDB
