EAO Formation Team meeting in Australia
MELBOURNE: 26th November 2009 -- The Australia- Pacific
Province has hosted the Formation meeting for the EAO Region which
concludes today. The meeting began on 22nd November and is being held
at the Salesian community in Lysterfield, on the city outskirts.
Despite difficulties generated by the
Australian immigration authorities and difficult travel patterns from
such far-flung places as Mongolia and Japan, every Province, Vice
Province and Delegation is represented. Australia, being the host
province, had formators present from both the continent and the
Pacific Islands.
Under the caring and capable leadership of Francis
Gustilo (FIN), well supported by Peter Rankin (AUL), the group has had
an intense program. The first two days were dedicated to an analysis of
contemporary youth, led by Fr Michael Mason CSsR. During the rest of
the week the delegates assessed the various stages of the formation
process, both at home and across the Region. Fr Chrys Saldanha
attended from Rome, representing the Formation Department, and Fr
Cereda.
There was a wonderful atmosphere at Lysterfield,
offering delegates the best of a Melbourne Spirngtime. On Wednesday the
visitors went to the Wildlife Sanctuary at Healesville for their first
introduction (for some) to koalas, kangaroos and the like.
Meanwhile in Rome another meeting is currently
underway involving a number of men from the Region as well - the
Mission and Development Offices from around the world are meeting under
the leadership of Fr Vaclav Klement and his team.
