Melbourne, Australia, 11 December 2020 -- On the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, four Salesian clerics: Duc Tran, Joseph Vu, Euclidio Marques and Felipe Sarmento Cardoso commit themselves to God forever as Salesians of Don Bosco.
The solemn celebration was held on 8 December 2020 at St John the Baptist Church in Clifton Hill, next to the Don Bosco Regional Formation House in Melbourne, Australia.
Due to the COVID19 restrictions, about 130 Salesians, families and friends were able to participate in this celebration with facemasks on and under social distancing regulations.
During the homily, the Provincial of the Australia-Pacific Province, Fr Will Matthews, encouraged the Salesians before their perpetual profession to be like the Blessed Mother who replied to the message of God ‘I am the handmaid of the Lord’, accepting the invitation of God with humility and in total commitment.
Fr Bernie Graham, Br Dat Phung and Fr Frank Moloney acted as witnesses to their Profession, while Fr Will Matthews represented the Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation.
At the conclusion of the Eucharist, Br Duc, Br Lidio, Br Alipi and Br Joseph thanked God and all those who accompanied them in their formation.
