Communications Feast of
activity in ITM
SUNTER - TIGARAKSA: 30th January 2007 -- On the Feast Of St. Francis of Sales, the two
formation houses of Sunter and Tigaraksa went for an educational
trip to two separate printing presses. The Post-Nov community went to a
printing school and press run by a group of religious brothers, while the
Pre-Nov community of Tigaraksa went to a commercial printing press in
another part of Jakarta City. This company is presently printing
Salesianity booklets in Bahasa Indonesia.
In line with the recommendations on the need for input on the theory and use of Mass Media in the initial stages of formation, the ITM's Social Communications team for Indonesia had initiated a series of activities to increase the publication of Salesianity themes and involve the young confreres in the printed media. For example, during these past 3 weeks of scholastic break, the Post-Nov confreres in Sunter reviewed their English, while doing translations of Salesian readings into the Indonesian language. In a few weeks, these works will be ready for publishing.
Meanwhile some translations into Bahasa Indonesia are already done. Among them are titles like: "Don Bosco's Madonna," Biography of Sts Versiglia & Caravario" and the Strenna of 2007. They are currently being printed (in booklet form) by a local printing press which was visited by the Pre-Novices of Tigaraksa. Hopefully these visits and their efforts at translations will enkindle their zeal for Don Bosco's apostolate of the press.
Coming
