Bio products with spirituality of agriculture
in FIN and FIS agro-training development
DAVAO CITY: 30th January 2007 -- . On 26th January 2007, a store called
Bios-Dynamis, was blessed in Davao City, Philippines. It is strategically
located, right beside the main shopping mall, ShoeMart, and close to the
central bus station.
The store was set up by the Don Bosco Foundation for
Sustainable Development, formerly known as the Don Bosco Diocesan Youth Center,
based in Kidapawan, North Cotabato. It is meant to bring to Davao and its
surrounding areas the healthy agricultural products of more than 4,500
so-called "Don Bosco" farmers. These farmers have adopted the
biodynamic method of agriculture, actually a way of life, that respects and
protects nature, and brings in the Creator into day-to-day farming. These
farmers have rediscovered the spirituality of agriculture, and can rightly be
considered empowered farmers.
Don Bosco Kidapawan was set up more than a decade ago by two
dedicated youth ministers, working for the Diocese of Kidapawan. Having read
the booklet, Great Dreams Come True, they named the center after the
Father and Teacher of Youth. They themselves have experienced how their many
dreams continue to come true each day.
Don Bosco Kidapawan has been giving training in biodynamic
agriculture and sustainable development to the Salesians and lay mission partners
of both FIN and FIS provinces. Their inputs and exposure programs have
contributed much to the agro-training centers of both provinces.
