5081(II)_EAO Salesian Cooperators Formation Workshop coming soon!
Exploring the formation dynamics through 50 interview with Salesian Cooperators
May 6, 2019
EAO, 6 May 2019 -- In three weeks time the EAO Salesian Cooperators will come together for their first Formation Workshop, called by their World Councillor for the EAO region, Mr Philip Yu (World Councillor for the East Asia - Oceania region, 2014-2020): He called for this Workshop during the Fifth ASC World Congress (Rome, October 2018) and the preparation path includes the 'For The Young Project' evaluation (2 years after the EAO Congress in Tokyo, May 2017) and the 'Learning from formation experience in the 7 EAO provinces of Salesian Cooperators (China, Japan, Korea, Philippines North, Philippines South, Thailand-Cambodia and Vietnam). The other Salesian Cooperator Centres in many other countries are not yet organized as ASC provinces (Australia -3 centres, Samoa-1 centre, PNG -3 centres, Solomon Islands-1 centre, Mongolia-1 centre, Indonesia-1 centre, Timor Leste-3 centres).
Around 60 participants (40 Salesian Cooperators and almost 20 SDB or FMA delegates) are invited to share their formation best practice (both initial and ongoing formation) especially after the recent upgrade of the Formation Guidelines of the Association, ed. 2015) with 3 dimensions and 4 pillars of formation. Until now no less than 50 ASC members and delegates have offered their interview (Boscolink) and the fruits of this extensive listening are being reflected as the main input for the Workshop dynamics, in interactive workshop style way.
For all Salesian Cooperators of the EAO region this is truly an historic opportunity to enhance the missing 'Formation of Formators' and reflect for the first time in a deeper manner on the effective ways of Formation carried out in each local center or at the province level (Formation School, Recollections, Conference or Annual Provincial Assembly).
For those, who will not take part in the May 24-27 Formators Workshop event, there are abundant materials available on Boscolink, including not only the official World Level ASC documents, but also the grass-root - personal, local center and province level formation - experience. The 50 interview booklet will be a good inspiration and reference point for centres just starting orfor those who struggle with a variety of challenges in some isolated venues.
