Media education pastoral formation program on
offer from Korea
SEOUL: 16th January 2007 -- The Korean province Social Communication Commission
has come up with an offer that may interest confreres from around the East
Asia-Oceania Region: a 1-2 year program in youth media education.
The Korean SC commission's idea, as expressed through its
delegate Bro Bosco Park, is to share with provinces in EAO, skills and methods
of the new media culture, especially in approaching youth today who often find
themselves with a confused value system. The expected outcome of the Korean
venture is to improve missionary direction through media education in youth
ministry.
The Korean province already has 15 years of experience in
the field of media education at the service of the Catholic Church. 'Now we
would like to share it with other EAO Provinces' Bro Bosco's communique says.
The invitation is for two (2) EAO confreres interested in
the field of youth media education (materials for catechesis, cultural youth
ministry...) to spend a period of 1-2 years in South Korea. The Korean province
will shoulder the expenses of the two who are selected. The communique
recognises that applicants will most likely speak English, but it can be
assumed that there would need to be a willingness to learn some Korean to take
best advantage of the course. The Korean province will provide lodging and the
air tickets for successful applicants.
The communique elaborates on the aims of the course and
points out that theory and practice is provided through seminars and given by
professionals in various media fields. The formation experience occurs within
the context of the DB Social Communication Centre together with young people
involved in broadcasting. An important aspect of the course will be to do with
video .. analysis, language, and catechetical production through video.
Expressions of interest in the course may be directed to Bro
Bosco Park at dybsbosco@naver.com
