CEBU: 4th May 2008 -- Last April 27-30, Salesian Brothers from FIN had their Salesian Brother Quarterly Gathering in Cebu (the FIS province). The topics for this quarterly formation were on Prayer, Contemplation, Community and Personal Discernment, and Spiritual Direction. Fr. Danilo Torres, the acting-provincial of FIN led the brothers to different modes of encountering God. This formation activity of is part of the program in taking care of the Salesian Brother Vocation in the Province to enrich the spiritual life of the brothers.
In the afternoon of April 29, the brothers went to Don Bosco Lawaan to visit the grave of Br. Bernard Villasanta, who died recently. They offered a mass for his eternal repose at the Sacred Heart Novitiate chapel (also in Lawaan). After the mass, they went to the St Francis Seraph Retreat House near Don Bosco Lawaan. They visited the FIS confreres (Priests and Brothers) who are having their Mid-Life Transition Seminar. There, they came to met Br. Carlo Bacalla who celebrated his 25th Anniversary as a Salesian Brother giving him their fraternal wishes and greetings. It was a moving reunion of Salesian Brothers from the FIN and FIS. The next day, some other brothers pushed to Bantayan Island, home town of one the brothers, for an outing to enjoy the beach and sun.
