austraLasia #2775 Don Bosco in Manila for Christmas
MANILA: 24 December 2010 -- Don Bosco has
arrived in Manila for Christmas! An interesting note for
this part of the pilgrimage is that coverage for the visit
to FIN has been given as a task to 'juventus', the youth
group, not the football team! This group is to be found in
all schools and parishes in the province. The students have
been given input on writing, photography and videography. An
editorial board, consisting of Salesians, edits and approves
the articles for transmission, however.
The pilgrim relic of St John Bosco
touched down at the Villamor Air Base yesterday at 3:35 in
the afternoon. This marks the beginning of the 25-day
journey of the relic in the Salesian Northern Province of
the Philippines (FIN) after a successful pilgrimage in the
Southern Province (FIS) of the country.
In simple paraliturgical rites, Fr Eli
Cruz, Provincial, FIN, received the
papers of the relic from
Fr Fidel Orendain of the FIS . The Papal Nuncio to the
Philippines, Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams, gave his
apostolic blessing.
The ceremony was witnessed by the members
of the Salesian Family, with military honors and brass band
to boot. Ms. Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, who represented her
brother, Philippines President Noynoy Aquino, and the
Commanding General of the Air Force, Lt. Gen. Oscar Rabena
were part of the official party. _________________
