EAO: 17 July 2005 -- July, it seems, has been the
month of Lectio Divina in the East Asia-Oceania Region. An
overview of what is happening shows that at least China, Thailand,
Japan, North Philippines Province and Korea have conducted or are
conducting sessions on Lectio Divina.
In Japan, Sr. Maria Ko FMA has been offering
sessions on LD for the Salesian Family. In Thailand and in China,
Bishop Prathan has already offered sessions to the SDBs in Taiwan at
Hua Lin, between July 3-10 and in Hong Kong, Cheng Chau from July
10-17. ANS photocover has already provided a shot of the Hua Lin
session. Bishop Prathan's emphasis has been on how to listen to,
pray and live the Word of God. In Philippines North province Fr
Juan Jose Bartolomé has been giving sessions to the Salesians
there. In Korea a Benedictine has been offering similar.
A number of websites can now be found offering daily
thoughts on the Word of God to assist with LD, amongst these an
interesting site based in Italy but running its reflections on the Word
of God in 7 languages, including English and Thai. Bishop Prathan
has been providing a monthly collection of reflections on the Word of
God for this site - they go back as far as 2003 and given that July
2005 is already there, it seems he continues to offer this
service. If your computer (and you!) can read Amharic, and there
are at least two recipients of austraLasia for whom this is true, there
are reflections in that language too.
VOCABULARY
all the go: possibly an Australianism, but
it means 'popular'.
