Diocesan Process opens for Founder of Daughters of
the Queenship of Mary (DQM) in Thailand
BANGKOK:15 July 2005 -- The Postulator General, Fr Enrico dal
Covolo, accompanied by Fr Cosimo Semeraro, a professor at the UPS, has
visited the missionary places where Fr Carlo Della Torre SDB worked,
and has viewed the material collected on the heroic life and virtues of
the said Salesian founder. He also has met fa number of living
witnesses. Fr Della Torre died in 1982.
The visit offered an opportunity to meet with the
General Council of the Sisters founded by Fr Della Torre, the Daughters
of the Queenship of Mary Immaculate. Finally, he met with the Cardinal
of Bangkok, accompanied by the Salesian Provincial, Fr Dheparat, to see
to the next moves as part of the diocesan process.
The group is actually a diocesan Secular Institute
canoncially erected in 1954. The idea of consecrated secularity
is built in to their Constitutions. The specific ministry of the
DQM is that of youth ministry in a Salesian style. They have a
particular focus within the local Church, marked by their 'Nazareth'
spirit of poverty and work, simplicity and joy.
