ROME: 21st April '04--On 19th April, the Salesians of Don Bosco added a new facility to their constantly developing website - the ‘Open Forums’. It is in response to requests for greater participation in the site (www.sdb.org) that have come in from members of the worldwide Salesian Family.
The inauguration of the Open Forums this week is no coincidence. The Beatifications to be held on Sunday 25th in Vatican City bring together three main groups of the Salesian Family - the Salesians of Don Bosco (through Fr. Augusto Czartoryski), the Daughters of mary Help of Christians (through Sr. Eusebua Palomino) and the Salesian Cooperators (through Alessandrina da Costa). The Open Forums are specifically meant to be a gift of the Salesians of Don Bosco to the Salesian Family, comprising 21 groups and numbering approximately 402,000 members. The Forums are also open to all users of the world wide web who wish to participate in themes which discuss education and evangelisation issues.
To begin with, two Forums are in session. One highlights the ‘paths to holiness’ traversed by the three new Blesseds. The second takes on the educational potential of Mel Gibson’s ‘The Passion of the Christ’. Opinions have already begun filling up the forum pages in 5 different languages. More forums dealing with themes relevant to members of the Salesian Family are expected to follow.
