3896(I)_RTC Tetere celebrates Don Bosco Feast 2016
February 1, 2016By Fr. Stefano Yu Ji Hoon, SDB
Tetere, Solomon Islands, 31 January 2016 - Our small Salesian community in Tetere did celebrate Don Bosco Feastday with a meaning and with joyful spirit. As every year the newcomers to the RTC (Rural Training Center) are coming just before the January 31st celebrations.
The 200 students strong Don Bosco RTC educative - pastoral community did celebrate the Feast of our Patron Saint in an ordinary - humble way: well prepared Eucharistic celebration, sports (footbal and basketball games) and family sharing.
Our SDB community with a new rector and our well committed lay mission partners was animated this festive movement in a silent way. For me it was delightful to see the slowly changing faces of our new students, thanks to the Feast of Don Bosco coming very fast into the family spirit lifestyle.
At the end of the Eucharist there was quite moving moment of official start of our new Aspirant. John was with us already for past twelve month and during Don Bosco Eucharist he pledged in front of the whole EPC to walk in the vocation path with Don Bosco. Let's pray for the vocation journey of John!
Solomon Islands might be the poorest among the 6 countries in Oceania, the Salesians are present today. The first Salesian presence in Solomon Islands started in Tetere Parish of Christ the King in 1995, with a slowly growing Don Bosco Rural Training Center since 2004.
Would you like to help our Tetere mission? There are two ways - The first and the best is to come as a missionary and join our community and mission! (NB - We would prefer this choice! The second is to offer your prayers and difficulties for the growth of local Solomon Island Salesian Vocations!'
VIVA DON BOSCO!
