4125_Salesian Family welcomes the Apostolic Nuncio

Port Moresby, PNG, 8 September 2016 -- The Salesian Family were delighted to welcome His Excellency Archbishop Kurian Mathew Vayalunkal, the new Apostolic Nuncio to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands on September 7 at the Emmaus Conference Centre, Port Moresby.
At the start of the meal in his honour, PGS provincial, Fr. Peter Baquero sdb, welcomed the nuncio on behalf of the Salesians, Salesian sisters, Caritas sisters of Jesus, aspirants and members of the Salesian family.
Speaking to the gathering, the nuncio recalled hearing several interesting stories about Papua New Guinea while in Cairo. “I am here in Papua New Guinea, as a missionary,” said the smiling nuncio as he spoke to the gathering.
Earlier the Salesian aspirants presented a few items to welcome the new Nuncio.
