RMG, 13 June 2018 -- There are five questions in this brief letter of the Rector Major, that will be published as the part of the Acts of the General Council (ACG) n. 428 (August 2018):

  • Do we keep in mind and pray to our Blesseds, Venerables and Servants of God?
  • Do we have confidence in the communion of Saints?
  • Do we believe in the power of intercession of the Saints?
  • Do we think that it is important to pray to obtain miracles?
  • Do we believe that miracles can no longer happen?"

There is lot of charismatic wisdom contained in the recent Salesian Holiness Seminar, pondering mostly on the communion of Saints we are called to live in our ordinary life: 'Unless we pray to the Blesseds and Venerables, we shall not be able to obtain miracles from God...etc'

The 172 Saints, Blessed, Venerable and Servants of God in the Salesian Family are daily witnesses to the charismatic opportunity for each one of us: 'They could follow Jesus in their human weakness in this way, why not me?' The charismatic chain of Saint who does accompany another Saint - from Fr. Cafasso to Don Bosco, from Don Bosco to his holy youth and first generation of Salesians - is showing the way also in our daily education - pastoral praxis.

The 3 page letter of the Rector Major is concluded with a simple prayer: "...May Our Mother, Help of Christians, who was given to little John in his dream of nine years as his teacher, take us by the hand and with a motherly gaze accompany us on the way of holiness."
