Saint Teresa of Calcutta, the 20th Century Face of Mercy
October 1, 2016
Makati City, the Philippines, 29 September 2016 -- Saint Teresa of Calcutta was honored as the 20th Century Face of Mercy in a Theological-Pastoral Symposium held in the Saint John Bosco Parish, Makati.
For a day, students and professors of Don Bosco Center of Studies brought the institute of theology from Parañaque to Makati City offering a greater opportunity for more audience to take part in the Theological-Pastoral Symposium they have organized in honor of Saint Teresa of Calcutta. The symposium began with a succinct presentation of Most Rev. Pablo Virglio David, SThD, DD (Bishop of Kalookan) on the Face of Mercy in the Scriptures. Afterwards, Most Rev. Gabriel Reyes, DD (Bishop Emeritus of Antipolo) retold select stories and reflections on his firsthand experience of accompanying Mother Teresa in her visits to the Philippines which began with the request of the late Archbishop of Manila, Cardinal Sin of the Missionaries of Charity to come to Manila in the late 70's. Finally, a Missionary of Charity Brother, Bro. Benedict Felicia, MC shared how they live the virtues and the rule of life set which their foundress has exemplified, and faithfully and radically lived.
Aside from students of theology and their professors, lay catechists, educators, members of religious male and female institutes, and even senior high school students attended the symposium. We got in touch with a few of them and we will share their insights and reflection in the coming days.
