austraLasia #2014
In some parts of our region, Christmas eve has already begun.
And even tho' I have not had the opportunity to ask 'Triple F', as he
is fondly known in parts of the region, if I may use his poem, I am
assuming his permission - to wait means we have to wait till Christmas
Eve 2008! Enjoy - it is the work of a master in this medium.
Christmas
Eve
Today astronomers know
that the
universe is full of a cacophony of sounds of worlds breaking up and
new ones being formed..." Time Magazine
Out
where the
rub and the roar of rising worlds,
where
galaxies form in formless voids,
Beadsman
Space smiles and steals stars to thread
upon
the gleaming crowns that crowd his head.
Yet
softly settles a stillness over all
the
far flung universe, as in many a lucent ball
countless
souls, in envy, see upon a distant speck,
the
Life Line shooting sure to a chosen wreck.
Across the cosmic gulf the
whisper crescendos,
“Come,
come to us! Come!” Yet
happy are those
upon
whose light-filled singing earth
the
Star child leaps to birth.
In
where
timeless thrones turn and tremble,
where
prophets' dreams and mobs assemble,
where
men move, masked in biblical faces,
sowing
seeds of rancour among the races,
where
dancing to the beat of a frenzied hum,
a
thousand drink from a deadly drum.
Innocence
hurrying upon the homeward street,
pales
in fear as footfalls throb the following feet.
Yet,
even here, across the inner space, there stills
a
hope, born among the Judaean hills;
In
peace, to all of true worth,
the
Man child leaps to birth.
