4466(II)_Unique way of summer vocation encounter: Bible camp!
Salesian Bible Camp in Japan after 45 years
August 14, 2017
Nojiri, Japan, 12 August -- Since 1973 every summer at the Salesian house located near the Nojiri Lake (3 hours from Tokyo) is held a Salesian ' Bible Camp'. Also this year, already it's 45th edition: August 8-12 for the elementary school boys and August 13-17 for the junior and senior high school students.
First week of the 2017 Bible Camp at Nojiriko was attended by 30 boys who were accompanied by Salesian Youth - Vocation Ministry team, with few parents and senior aspirants. The theme of present Bible Camp - 'We are a family' - offered a wonderful chance to experience the attractive dynamics of Salesian family spirit.
Five days Bible camp was started with the inspiration of the first Japanese SDB provincial Fr. Honda Yanuario Zenchiro (+2008). The whole natural environment of the Noriji Lake helps in many ways to strengthen the effect of the program. Harmonious blending of game, prayers, Bible study and camp group experience in the mountains and around the lake exercise a strong impact on all participants. Indeed for many boys this is a strong motivation to join the Salesian Aspirantate in Yokkaichi.
We pray that also the 2017 Bible camp experience will move the hearts of our boys towards Jesus and Don Bosco!
