5354(I)_Memorial - 38 Years of the Death of Fr Carlo Della Torre [4 Apr 1982 - 2020]
April 10, 2020
Bangkok, Thailand, April 2020 -- On 4 April 2020, the members of the Institute of the Queenship of Mary and The Sisters of the Queenship of Mary held the 'Liturgy of the Word' to mark the memorial of Fr. Carlo della Torre, SDB, the founder, on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of his death.
Ordinarily, every year, all the members would gather together to pray in his memorial . However, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, each community, instead, held the 'liturgy of the word' and other special personal practices of piety within each community. This was designated as a 'day of prayer' - the members pay a special adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and offer many rounds of the Holy Rosary.
Fr. Carlo della Torre was an Italian Salesian missionary to Thailand. He was exemplary for his simplicity and poverty, deeply pious and devoted. His cause for sainthood has been introduced, and now he is a 'Servant of God'.
The Institute of the Queenship of Mary and The Sisters of the Queenship of Mary are members of the Salesian Family, dedicated to the education of the young through schools. They also work in various capacities in the Catholic Dioceses of Thailand, namely, in Bangkok, Ratchaburi, Surat Thani, Udornthani, and Ubonratchathani.
We pray that these two groups will grow and become the 'salt and light to the world' to bring salvation to the young according to the charism of the founder.
