5570(II)_Salesian Family in Action - Covid Year Solidarity
'Don Bosco Solidarity in Covid Times' published
February 17, 2021
RMG, 17 February 2021 -- The Covid Solidarity of the worldwide Salesian Family becomes visible through a newly published book 'One Family - One Father', printed already in English but with successive editions in Spanish, Italian, Japanese and other EAO languages. Through the rich photo material from all 90 SDB provinces and through the various aspect of this large solidarity we gain a deep insight in the solidarity culture.
As Salesians we are usually shy to communicate information about our works, but this publications shows the same mindset as Don Bosco's - to speak about the great good that is being done: about 11 million people hae been helped, some 25.5 million USD spent and the detailed statistics drawn up by a professional, Salesian Brother Marco Bay (RMG), offer a clear vision of the amount of human and economic resources expended during 2020.
Aside from the Introduction and special articles by the Rector Major and the SDB General Councillors for Missions and Youth Ministry, there is a large variety of 25 short articles by SDB, Salesian Family members and Lay mission partners from all continents, including also Fr. Arvin Abatayo (FIS) and Fr. Andrew Ekasit (THA). A large subject index makes this publication also a good 'textbook' of Salesianity in action for our candidates and Salesian Family members in initial formation.
Topics and aspects tackled: Communication in the Time of Covid - Don Bosco with migrant workers - Salesian family working together - Solidarity as Art to Architecture - Social Justice - Heroes and Martyrs - Heaven on Earth (song - dance) - Faith meets Faithfulness - Inclusive Salesian Heart - Salesian Donor Organizations - Foundation of Prayer - Green and Healthy - Innovation in Healthcare Equipment Eyes on Faith - Unsung Warriors - Through the eyes of children - Strategy - Covid related Priorities- Logo and some Statistics.
The numerous photos also include a variety from the East Asia - Oceania region Salesian Family members solidarity in action: Pakistan, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Japan, Hong Kong - China, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, Cambodia and Mongolia. The PDF version of the book is available on Boscolink and the print-ready high definition is available upon request from the Missions Sector office in Rome (Fr MC George: mcgeorge@sdb.org). This book was officially released on 31 January in the General House, and the printed version ordered by the provinces will be ready soon!
