4558_World day of the poor- observed in Maria Auxilium Parish, Darkhan

Darkhan, Mongolia, 19 November 2017 -- A special program was held in Don Bosco Darkhan to observe the world day of the poor. It began with Holy mass at 10.00 in morning at Maria Auxilium parish. Fr. Joseph Manh Dat Nguyen SDB the parish priest of Maria Auxilium presided over the Holy Eucharist and around 120 faithful participated in it. Con-celebrants were Fr. Simon SDB (vice-rector), Fr. Jaroslav SDB and Fr. Anthony SDB.
Fr. Joseph in his homily encouraged everyone to pray for all the poor in the world, hear the voice of the poor and share their love with them. Also he said that everyone needs to express his love in deed not just in words. Then, Fr. Joseph showed a short video clip about the poor around the world. He reminded people that everyday 25000 people are dying of poverty and hunger in the world, as well as he appealed that everyone need to help and share their love and kindness with poor people.
In the afternoon, lunch was served for around 70 neglected people from the city. Before lunch all the people gathered in the church and Fr. Joseph showed the video clip of Pope Francis announcing the World day of the poor.
“The church first and foremost belongs to the poor and poor are always welcome in the Church”, Fr. Joseph said. Salesians, workers, volunteers also joined for meal. There was very friendly atmosphere of fun and laughter. The country also remembered the birthday of Chinggis Khan, the founder of Great Mongolia. In the late afternoon around 80 people also received coal to pass the winter. The program ended at around 8 o’clock in the evening.
