4792(V)_First Meeting of the Mission Animation Team AUL
July 20, 2018
Melbourne, Australia, 18 July 2018 -- Lauren Hichaaba, the Provincial Delegate for Mission Animation for the AUL Province, is now being supported by a highly competent team. The inaugural meeting for the AUL Mission Animation Team took place on Wednesday, July 18th. There is a broad cross section of representatives on the team from across the Province that really represent the diversity of the Province. Fr. Mosese Tui, SDB, brings his longevity as an sdb across the Province and his vast knowledge of the Pacifican part of the AUL Province. The Pacific delegation of the AUL Province includes New Zealand, Fiji and Samoa. Sr. Helen McMahon, FMA, will bring insight from the fma and her expertise from being involved in the AUL volunteer program, the Cagliero Project. Tina Newton is a staff member of the Australian Mission Overseas Aid Fund and will be able to offer insight from the perspective of the missions office. Finally Fr. Jan Walenciej, SDB, (not pictured) has been a missionary from Poland in the AUL province for many years serving in both Australia and Samoa.
During the first meeting the team looked at the role and responsibilities of the PDMA and how the team can contribute to mission animation within the Province. We identified different areas of need across the Province. A major priority will be the animation of all confreres to reinvigorate their missionary fervour at both an individual and community level. The team also discussed Salesian Mission Day for 2018 and for subsequent years. There are many tasks ahead but the work is important and we look forward to future meetings and activities. A big thank you to all who have stepped up for this important work.
